VBIce

Where every day is a snow day! And Jesus is the only way! 

VBIce was our church's version of VBS this summer. It was so cool [pun intended]! (Side note, our staff had a field day with the theme and all the puns that went with. I'll try to minimice the number of jokes.)

Couldn't resist that one.

Anywho... 

Steve & I were in charge of skits. We had a great team of enthusiastic middle and high schoolers. And we had a great script written by a very talented lady in our congregation. God really freed us up this year to have fun and serve joyfully and humbly. We were not concerned with having lines memorized or being perfect (gasp! Helene, unconcerned with perfection and precision? Crystal clear evidence that God was at work). We were able to be flexible and laugh A LOT. I laughed at my husband a lot, the Direwolf. Come on, look at him in that wolf costume (which b.t.dubs he sewed all on his own). This may seem odd, however I was increasingly attracted to him as he made a fool of himself in front of those kids. All for Jesus. Real men wear wolf costumes, in my opinion. (Another side note, I googled Dire wolf... really scary images. Thankfully Steve did not scare any children (to our knowledge), he was a good wolf, just misunderstood).

VBS is such a great picture of the body of Christ in action and how the Lord uses many people with various talents, gifts, and personalities to serve together for His namesake. This picture was magnified when our church building lost power during the storms and we moved VBIce outside for 2 evenings. (Talk about being flexible!) Props to our Children's Pastor who had the faith to say, "The snow must go on!" Everybody rallied, everybody worked together, we did whatever it took to make it happen, God provided, and He was glorified. Awesome.
