Ok, so he was never completely jobless thanks to Domino's, BUT he just landed a full-time job!! He will be working as an Admissions Rep. for Medical Careers Institute (a division of ECPI). Ironically, he applied for this position before he was laid off. In fact, when Steve applied, we had not even seriously considered the possibility of job loss. Well, Aerotek eventually pulled the plug, and now, we are sooo glad that the process was started early. After 4 interviews, 2 weeks of nervous waiting, multiple discussions on our
tentative plans and a whole lot of teeth grinding, they made Steve an offer he couldn't refuse. The salary and benefits are comparable to what he received at Aerotek, so no crazy changes to our budget are needed. Also, they allowed him the opportunity to start the very next day! Well, after little thought, he decided to take a Spring Break of sorts this week, and he will officially start next Monday. This week Steve intends to sleep a good deal (he could certainly use the rest), finish up some house projects, run, play Risk with the high schoolers who are also on Spring Break, go bowling during the day with other former-Aerotekies and celebrate God's provision!
Here is a list of other pros that go along with this new job...
- Office is 2.5 miles from our house
- They allow facial hair... Steve will undoubtedly be growing a full beard, oh boy
- 2 days a week, he starts at 11am
- Only 1 closing shift at Domino's a week (compared to 3 or 4)
- Good incentive program to earn decent commission
- Campus President is way cool
- No outside sales required, so we can save miles on the Avalon
- Steve should get his very own office :)
- Gym memberships can be revived! (we put them on hold to save $$)
- Aertoek severance can and will be used to PAY OFF DEBT!!!!!! So gracias Aerotek for paying up in the end, and take that!! you stupid credit card companies
Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers. Let's celebrate! Amen? Amen.
