A Dempsey-Norris Easter

We are real adults now... this year we hosted Easter dinner at our humble abode in Richmond. I think once you have family over on a holiday, you officially transition to adulthood and so we have. The party started on Saturday night when Dad & Debbie arrived. We talked, ate pizza, lost track of time and before we knew it, it was 2am! I truly love those nights when you are enjoying your company so much that you forget time even exists. Needless to say, it was difficult getting up the next morning. I poked my head in the bedroom to gently wake the parents, and my dad uttered "He is risen!" I responded, "And so should you!"

Easter Sunday was glorious!! How special it was to worship our risen Savior and King with family and dear friends. Pastor Shelby was on his game, the truth was proclaimed and sung with great joy, and all rejoiced together as one! Alleluia!! Nana & Poppop came over shortly after church, and the rest of the day was filled with good conversation, laughter, sittin' around lookin' around (as the Dempseys say), and well-seasoned pork loin. Steve really took that 5 lb. hunk of pork in as his own... he rubbed it, seared it, grilled it, watched it, rested it, sliced it and ATE IT! Thanks honey for serving as our meat master of the day, you sure made a tasty main dish. Not only did we enjoy the meal but also we enjoyed watching the love between Dad & Riley blossom, telling & re-telling stories, discussing the Bible and Christ's love, watching Dad chase Steve chase Riley around the yard, chatting outside in the warm sun, watching Nana run back to the table after setting the timer on her camera and tripping over the basket of throw blankets but making it just in time for the photo (whew, that was close!), and celebrating Dad's 54th birthday with cake, cards & coffee. These kinds of days are never quite long enough.
