and the ugly.
Although the weekend ended with a big fat L on the Hokies record, the trip to see Virginia Tech play Alabama in the 2009 Chick-fil-a College Kickoff was worth it. Our trip was significant for a number of reasons... 1) We got to spend irreplaceable time with friends on the ride down. We took 2 cars among 3 couples and split up Bs & Gs. The gender split was vital because it provided opportunity for really deep, valuable, and candid conversation in each car. Apparently, it also catered to unhindered gas passing in the husband-mobile. 2) We put over 1,000 miles on our car, which is not really meaningful compared to good friendships but still relatively significant. 3) We experienced the MOST intense college football atmosphere ever. Walking into the Georgia Dome, we could barely hear ourselves think it was so loud. The fans showed up! The stadium was packed, school spirit was at a max, and all cheered their hearts out! Also [side note] I was so pleased yet surprised to hear a prayer said to open the game, seriously, when has that ever happened? I wish I could remember who it was (Danny, Mere, help me out?), but this man thanked the good Lord for Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins! Can I get an Amen? Love it. Thanks again Kristi (and parents) for the tickets! And thanks all who came out to the tailgate too! Good, no wait, great times!
