Peace out November

What happened to November? We were just starting to watch the leaves change & fall then, it feels like, all of a sudden the trees were bare, a cold wind blew in, Thanksgiving blew by, and it was peace out November, hello December! Check that, mid-December! As usual, November was filled mostly with football, which included cheering on the Hokies as they dominated the end of their schedule. A highlight for us was watching them cream the Terps on their own turf. We were at the game and sat within spitting distance of the field. Thanks Bobby for the sweet tix, oh, and the victory :) Here's a photo of my friend Amanda & I at our pre-game tailgate.

Also, on that short trip to MD, we got to spend some quality time with Chris & Megan at their place in Bowie. We enjoyed good conversation and a delicious meal cooked by the one and only, Megan Norris. As for the Hokies, we'll seen them on New Year's Eve as they take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the Chick-fil-a Bowl!

We had a very Norris Thanksgiving this year - incredibly relaxing with the best home cooking! Steve woke up early to play in the traditional guys' tackle football game. For the next 3 days he was feeling like he'd been hit by a bus. He soothed his aches & pains by consuming a mass amount of turkey & trimmings and, of course, PIE! (Cran-apple pie recipe to come, you can't beat it!) While I was terribly inactive (yet more active than I have been since I'm now walking!!), I still ate my fair share of food. What a blessing it is to simply have the ability to gather, give thanks, and eat with the ones you love. I hope you all were able to soak that up this year. Too bad Riley and the new Norris kitties could not enjoy the fellowship...

While we were up in PA, we spent time with Aaron & Kristen Windle, which never fails to be fun! Again, there's so much joy found in the simplicity of catching up over coffee and playing games. And it's always humorous to watch Steve snap into super-competivie game mode where he assumes the role of rule nazi and considers the game a complete failure if he does not claim victory in the end. Sound intense? He is. Gotta love him though.

This past weekend we kicked off December with the high school Fall Retreat, which was amazing, as Steve will soon comment on. This weekend we have a Christmas event at Fay Towers (the seniors' home in Gilpin Court) and the Annual Richmond Christmas Extravaganza, YAY!
